HOW THERAPY ON WHEELS GOT STARTED

Whilst travelling South East Asia in 2018 – 2020 we realised that many people live so remotely that they are nowhere near any therapy. Combine that with low social and economic circumstances, there are many people with physical and clinical conditions that are left untreated. We wanted to address that. We love being on the move, we love discovering new places and cultures and above all, we love to help those in need. We learned how rewarding it can be to help underprivileged students while working at a charity vocational college in Thailand for 3 years. In 2021 we felt that it was time to return home, to South Africa, and to assist those in desperate need of therapy.

Starting your own NPO is no easy task and after some blood, sweat and tears Therapy On Wheels is up and running and we are now fueled with the energy to reach as many people in as many rural areas as we can from the Cape to Cairo.

We learned a lot from our pilot project in Maguzi and even during those 2 months there were some fine tuning and reality checks that we learnt and adapted from and will take to our next projects to make it just as big a success.
